Project Value - £65,000

Project Overview – Replacement mains switchboard and associated switchgear, re-wiring of sub-mains and replacement of all on site distribution boards within a live hospital environment.

This project involved major electrical infrastructure upgrades within a live hospital environment, which naturally presented many engineering challenges when carrying these works out to minimise stakeholder disruption.

All sub-mains re-wiring and distribution board replacement works were carried out during night shifts in a phased sequence, all agreed in advance with the site team to minimise disruption to the hospital’s activities. The mains switchgear changeovers were carried out during a pre-agreed shutdown weekend and required the involvement of the DNO and asbestos specialists, all of which was managed and undertaken by Lakeside M&E.

These works were all completed on time, on budget, and with no loss of power to any areas of the hospital other than during agreed shutdown periods.

Due to hospital being active throughout the duration of the works, disinfection ‘Fogging’ was also carried out at regular intervals to minimise the spread of Covid-19, which was again proposed, managed and implemented by Lakeside M&E.
